Visitors to have chosen Utah's [R314R, Park City Mountain Resort] as the most "Family-Friendly Resort in North America." The data period for voting was January 2010 when a Nielsen audit showed 2.3 million unique browsers logged in to the world's most visited Web portal. is published by Mountain News Corp.

Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, host of the 2010 Winter Olympics, received the top award as North America's Favorite Overall Resort.

Visitors also honored Snowbird Resort, also in Utah, as their "Favorite Downhill Terrain;" Keystone, Colo., as having their "Favorite Terrain Park;" and Telluride, also in Colorado, as having their "Favorite Nightlife."

The ski resort with the top average score (on a scale of 1 to 5) in each category, and a minimum number of entries, receives the award. Visitors then ranked them in five categories: Overall Favorite, Best Nightlife, Most Family-Friendly, Best Downhill Terrain and Best Terrain Park.

"User-generated content is a very powerful and effective way Web visitors have to communicate with each other," said Mountain News Corp. President and Publisher Rob Brown. "Skiers and snowboarders are relying on the word of their peers when they make resort choices."

Brown points out these rankings should not be used as comparisons of one resort to another, since all visitors to have not visited every resort, and expectations of the ski experience vary greatly in regions throughout North America. "But, they do provide an accurate reflection of our visitors' experiences and their passion for particular resorts."

OnTheSnow visitors were enthusiastic about Park City: "This must be the friendliest ski resort on the planet, everyone is smiling and courteous. You can store your skis in a locker on the snow near your morning chairlift, that's service for you. The food in the restaurants in Park City itself is great but not expensive and there is plenty to do when you aren't skiing." Another reviewer wrote, "Park City is very easy to get to. Our kids love it!"
