The wranglers first do some roping and wrassling, all on skis (or snowboards) of course. The big event ends with the downhill, which is a mass exodus down the front face to the base of Steamboat, typically with no stopping, no turning and no fear. Steamboat's Olympic medalist Billy Kidd came up with the idea with the help of Larry Mahan, over 30 years ago, to bring a few of the ProRodeo stars to Steamboat for a day of on the slopes. Now, it continues to be a huge hit with the folks of Steamboat, as well as over 100 of the best professional rodeo cowboys who dare to take on the snow and the slopes.
