Other resorts may be counting down the days until closing, but [R404R, Snowbird] fans are looking at a new beginning. The Spring Season Pass ($499) is now up for grabs to anyone hoping to ski the Bird before July 4. The current pass offering gets you unlimited skiing from now until the end of the season (traditionally Memorial Day Weekend, conditions permitting). The 'Plan B' Spring Pass ($299) starts April 1.

Just do the math. If you ski every weekend in April and May, you'll have paid off the pass after four days. That brings the average price of your ski day to $15.73 if you ski every Saturday and Sunday until close and the Monday of Memorial Day.

Spring passes can be purchased at the Snowbird ticket office.

Another clear reason to spring for a spring pass: If the fresh mountain air and warm, sunny skies aren't enough, here's the calendar of fun events the resort has lined up:

The Subaru Freeskiing World Champs bombard The Bird March 17-20 with top extreme skiers from around the globe throwing down in Baldy for big prize money. A new venue will be chosen each day with increasingly difficult terrain and optimal views for spectators.

The Backcountry Skills Seminar, March 20 and April 3, will help teach you the basics of self-rescue, transceiver search techniques and travelling in avalanche terrain. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. $40.

El Chanate in the Cliff Lodge will celebrate spring with a Spring Fever Party, Sat., March 20, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. $3 Coronas, $3 Margaritas, $3 Red Bull Vodkas and half-priced appetizers after 9 p.m. Live music with Matt Calder from 5 to 7 p.m., TGR's film "RE: Session" and DJ Knuckles from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be a drawing at 11 p.m. (prizes from Corona, SkullCandy, Red Bull, Snowbird Sports and more).

The annual Kids Easter Egg Hunt takes place April 4, 9 a.m. on the Plaza Deck for kids up to 11. Easter Sunrise Service via the Tram starts at 7 a.m. at Hidden Peak.This is a non-denominational service. Dress up your dummy for the Daredevil Dummy Downhill April 12. Come down to Gad Valley at 5 p.m. and cheer on your favorites.

Don't forget that every weekend through the end of the season, you can grab a burger from the outdoor grill on the Plaza Deck while listening to live local music.

Snowbird is currently offering a Ski and Stay Free package for $149/night, double occupancy that includes free lift tickets for each day of stay and a fourth night of lodging free.
