[R493R, Whistler Blackcomb] continues building its Olympic legacy in March by hosting the 2010 Paralympic Games. The alpine events, which take place at Whistler Creekside, leave 90 percent of the rest of the resort open to the public for spring skiing and riding.

Paralympic alpine events run March 13-21, starting with the Men's and Women's Downhill the first day. Two days of Super G racing follows along with the Super Combined. Giant Slalom, and Slalom events March 18-21. All events are scheduled on Franz's Run.

The public has drive-up access available to the resort during the Paralympic Games, with most of the parking lots available. Only the Creekside Parking Lot will remain closed to the public for the majority of March; however, Creekside Gondola is open to the public, but provides priority loading for Paralympic athletes and officials.

Residents of Canada and Washington State heading to Whistler Blackcomb for at least three days can get a discounted lift card. The three-day EDGE Card, which reduces lift tickets to $70 CAD per day, is available for purchase through March 28, but can be used through May 24--closing day of winter season. The cards, which cost $209 CAD, can be purchased online, but government issued photo ID and proof of residency are required for pick up.

Spring lodging deals, including one that adds up to a fifth night free, are available. A five-night package with two four-day lift tickets starts at $130 CAD per person, per night through April 4. The package rate drops to $106 per person per night from April 5-18.
