The TRUTH anti-tobacco campaign is partnering with smoke-free [R82R, Brighton Resort] to offer half-priced night skiing Monday nights. Kids can text TRUTH1 to 83043 to print off a coupon that will make their tickets $16 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Brighton Resort is known throughout Utah as the resort that attracts the young snowboarder crowd. TRUTH representatives will be at Brighton every Monday night this season educating them about the dangers of smoking and offering help with the theme, "Any reason is a good reason to quit." The TRUTH Terrain Park at Brighton is decked out in graffiti art that shows how the tobacco industry manipulates its messages to attract young people.

Utah Department of Health (UDOH) Tobacco Program efforts have helped drive the youth smoking rate down by 34 percent since The TRUTH campaign began in 1999, despite $60 million in annual spending statewide to market tobacco products. Ninety percent of adult smokers begin lighting up before age 19.

The campaign begins with this chant:

"The Ugly" has many faces. It's the bad breath, the yellow teeth,

the smoke odor permeating your clothes.

But the ugliest part is Big Tobacco itself.

Churning out death with assembly-line efficiency,

Big Tobacco is a machine of greed and lies.

We are the wrench in their gears.

The seeds in their watermelon.

The truth in their lie salad.

So take a look around. Play some games,

find some facts, enter a contest or two -

the truth

is all around you.

Don't take it for granted.

Use it wisely. And often.

The next ride jam is Saturday, March 27, with the Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam.
