[R18R, Appalachian Mountain] in North Carolina is offering free skiing and riding through the rest of this season for those who purchase a 2011 season pass membership by April 11. Extra benefits apply.

VIP members get 50 percent off ice skating and 50 percent off three group lessons from the French Swiss Ski College for the remainder of this season and for 2010-11. Nights-only pass holders get 50 percent off day and half day tickets for the rest of this season and next year.

Season member rates for 2010-11 are $475 for adults, $415 for students, and $370 for juniors. The nights-only pass costs $280. The First Two Family rate is $725. A third family member rate is $325 and a fourth is $215. A downloadable application form is available on the resort's Web site.

Night skiing at Appalachian ends March 20 but there will be plenty of skiing, snowboarding, and activities available for several more weeks. The resort boasts one of the longest seasons in the southeastern U.S. The Shred Cup race is set for March 20. Two activity-laden special events are planned Saturday, April 3 (Easter weekend) and the following weekend. Appalachian's Meltdown Games, the annual end of the winter celebration, will be held April 10-11.
