[R469R, Timber Ridge]'s terrain parks, which were featured in Warren Miller's latest film Dynasty, are designed and maintained by none other than Luke Schrab.  He and his brother Adam have been featured in four Miller films, and both appeared in the latest performing aerial stunts at the Ridge's parks.

Timber Ridge isn't large - even by Midwestern standards - with a 240-foot vertical, but think of it as "The Little Engine That Could." The ski area opened in 1961, nearly 50 years ago, and has acquired a loyal following of skiers over the years.  Known for its weekly adult race leagues, it attracts skiers from Chicago and Indianapolis that come to compete against lower Michigan's best racers.

They offer a number of weekly seasonal specials.  Mondays are Men's Day when men get a lift ticket for $14 and rental, if purchased before 4 p.m., for $14.  Wednesday is Two for One Day when you purchase two lift and rental packages for the price of one between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.  Thursday is Women's Day when they get the same deal as the men on Monday.  Friday is Be An Angel Day when you receive $1 off a lift ticket for every can of food you bring to the community food pantry; $5 maximum.  No outdated food is acceptable.

Monday through Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Sunday 4 to 8 p.m. college students with ID get $14 lift tickets and $14 rentals.  Every Sunday 4 to 8 p.m. is Family Learn To Ski & Snowboard time.  Skiing is $30 and snowboarding $33 with beginner lessons given at 5 p.m.

The Ridge, located between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo in western Michigan, offers 15 runs, eight lifts, two terrain parks, and tubing.  Winterfest takes place the last weekend of the month, which includes crowd pleasing favorites like the Cardboard Classic, Dummy Downhill, and Drag Race.  Don't miss it.  It's as much fun for the spectators as the participants.
