Riders Show Off at Sugarloaf
Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott is hosting the event which will attract the top 24 snowboard athletes currently on the World Cup tour along with other qualifying American riders. Wescott, whose home area is Sugarloaf, has launched this pro tour as an alternative to the World Cup and to give more riders a chance to stay in the sport professionally. "Our goal is to create the premier boardercross tour in North America," Wescott stated. According to Sugarloaf President John Diller, "Seth built his dream of winning Olympic gold on Sugarloaf's slopes. Events like this will inspire the next generation of Sugarloafers to follow in his footsteps." Riders will be competing for more than $50,000 in cash and prizes. According to Sugarloaf officials the event will be spectator friendly with a number of viewing areas along the length of the course.
