Visitors to Steamboat can take a run with Billy Kidd, and receive a tip or two. The free, daily instructional clinic is at 1:00 every day that Billy is on the mountain. The meeting place is at Thunderhead (at the top of the gondola), at the start of the Why Not run. The idea of skiing with Billy Kidd was started 34 years ago, when Doak Walker came up with the plan. Walker was a Heisman Trophy winner who was married to Steamboat resident Skeeter Warner. Over the years, Billy has had just one person in his clinic, and as many as 300. Check with the resort when you visit Steamboat, to see if Billy will be on the mountain that day. And give a "Yee Haw" when you take your run with this colorful cowboy skier.
