Travel professionals from around the world met in Annecy last month for the 21st edition of the Grand-Ski.

Grand-Ski 2012 offered the opportunity for more than 460 professionals, tour operators and travel agents to meet with 238 exhibitors from French mountain resorts.

During two days (Jan. 17 and 18), 8,487 meetings were booked, and many others took place during the days and evenings.

The French mountain resorts generate approximately 10 million overnight stays, 3.5 million of which is in the hotel industry. The majority of overnight guests are from the UK - one quarter of the total.

Grand-Ski is famous for finding the right mix between hard work and socialising. A highlight was certainly the exceptional evening at the ski resort of La Clusaz, just 45 minutes away from Annecy, where the guests were welcomed with champagne, wine, great food, live music and even fireworks.

Having most of the French mountain tourism industry in one place for two days makes Grand-Ski a ‘must' for many international travel companies. The organisers planned and executed this big event as smoothly as the years before, finding the perfect balance between the pace of international business and the French "savoir vivre".
