The Mooserwirt (1,404m) on the slopes of [R422R, St. Anton am Arlberg] is known as the place to go for apres-ski partying, so unlikely that anyone would choose to build a plush hotel above it then? But this is exactly what's happened.

By 4 p.m every afternoon, you can get an idea of how popular the Mooserwirt bar is by the hundreds of pairs of skis stuck in the snow outside. Venturing inside, you'll see people standing on tables stamping their ski boots to ear-splittingly loud music while swigging the local Fohrenburg beer. The Mooserwirt is particularly popular for its live music - you can watch the popular German cover bands on the dancefloor from the high wooden balconies.

The party is over by 8 p.m when the bar closes. If you don't fancy skiing down the mountain in the dark, you can just spend the night upstairs. The four-star Mooser Hotel is complete with 17 stylish guestrooms, a restaurant and spa.

Rooms at the Mooser Hotel start at €114 per night. The restaurant in the attic serves hearty breakfasts and three-course dinners.Guests can also indulge in pampering at the sauna with its massage therapists, dry-heat sauna, rock sauna, steam room, infrared sauna and infinity-edge pool which is built into the rock of the gorge.
