Mountain Hardwear Barnsie Jacket review. OnTheSnow reviewed this insulated jacket as part of its 2016/2017 Jacket Buyers' Guide.

Favorite Features: Offered in its classic stripes or an updated, Cheshire Cat-like look, Mountain Hardwear’s Barnsie will always be an on-mountain standout for skier/rider chicks. We especially love all the cozy insulation with none of the scale tippage.

Room for Improvement: The cuffs run rather large and cumbersome, and there’s not enough Velcro to secure them down and out of the way.

Fit: Fits as expected throughout.

On-Snow Performance: Providing a roomy and comfy fit on mountain, our tester noted the decent venting on the Barnsie, a necessary feature on a warm day. The lightweight jacket zips all the way to the nose for ample wind blockage and also provided great coverage in terms of overall length. Though the arm gaiter proved to be on the short side in combo with a glove, the sleeve length is more than enough in that department.

Manufacturer Description: An adaptable, sassy jacket that can do it all. The Barnsie Jacket has unbeatable performance. It’s got Dry.Q™ Core technology for waterproof breathability, and Thermal.Q™ insulation--80g in the body, 60g in the sleeves--for incredible warmth. So it stays toasty warm and desert-dry, with a cute stripe pattern that will set you apart from the masses.
