2016/2017 Salomon QST 106 ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its men’s Powder Category.

Five new models from Salomon make up the freeride-oriented QST line, including the second widest QST 106. Testers rated the ski highly in the playfulness department but were less impressed with carving performance. “This light ski pivots nicely and is stable enough that it won’t toss you,” says Loomans. The QST 106 is reinforced with a material called CFX Superfiber, a flax weave that engineers found to have a high strength-to-weight ratio. The sandwich sidewall construction includes Salomon’s Spaceframe full wood core and a hardpack-oriented titanium “Power Platform” located under the binding area. The profile includes a wide rockered, hook free tapered tip and a rockered tail. “This ski has tremendous rebound and felt easy to maneuver even with afternoon legs,” says Rice.
