2016/2017 Head Monster 108 ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its men’s Powder Category.

A monster of a series made up of four models that range between 108-mm and 83-mm underfoot, the Monsters meld a World Cup construction with freeride elements. “This Monster gobbled up crud, chowed the steeps and chomped on bumps,” says Gaudet. Head adds Graphene to the WC sandwich cap construction, a material stronger than steel but extremely lightweight. The Monster 108’s wood core has a sheet of metal and is wrapped in a lightweight “cap” for durability. All Monsters have Head’s Allride Rocker, or moderate amount in the tip, which has stabilizing and vibration-absorbing characteristics thanks to “piezoelectric” Intellifibers. The 108-mm-waisted Monster was rated most favorably for carving and stability with lower tester scores for float. “What you give up in float, you gain in stability,” says Dittmar. “It’s like a fat GS ski that does it all, but shines when the snow stinks.”
