2016/2017 Fischer Ranger 108 Ti ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its men’s Powder Category and awarded it an Editors’ Choice honor.

“Smooth as butter, this solid ski can grease the intensity level when you ask it to,” says Hill. “It floats, it’s fun, and it’s a favorite for all over the mountain.” Fischer’s freeride Ranger series seeks to create lightweight freeride skis for resort or backcountry skiing with several elements, such as the wide rockered tip and flat rockered tail. Weight-reducing technology includes a carbon fiber “Nose” and Air Tec Ti wood core, which combines a sandwich sidewall construction with sturdy titanium inserts in the binding mounting area and a milled beech/poplar wood core. Testers were most impressed with its playfulness, where the 108-mm-waisted ski received highest scores of the category, rating it less favorably for carving and flotation. “There are tough contenders in this category, but this Fischer’s carbon tip played well in the powder, and the carving ability was even-keeled,” says March.
