2016/2017 DPS Wailer 112 RP2 ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its men’s Powder Category.
The DPS Wailer series houses four models, including the revamped Wailer 112 RP2, which received high tester marks for flotation and low marks for versatility. “This ski is geared to floating on pow,” says Hill. “It felt chattery on the hardpack, so keep it in the fluff.” The 112-mm-waisted ski is made with DPS’ Pure3, which uses aerospace-grade carbon fiber and aspen wood in a sandwich construction, designed to increase tosional stability while decreasing weight. The tip and tail are both deeply rockered for flotation and the ability to feather turns. “It has a fun, flexy feel, which is great in powder inbounds and out, but challenging in tough terrain,” says Cole.
