2016/2017 Salomon Lumen ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its women’s All-Mountain Back Category.

“A great off-piste ski that can maneuver around and respond to anything,” says Brown of Salomon’s Lumen, a new model in a line of four women’s QST freeride models, ranging in waist widths between 106 mm and 85 mm. At 99 mm underfoot, the profile includes a wide rockered tip, hook free tapered and a rockered tail. Salomon adds a unique ingredient in the form of CFX Superfiber, an extremely strong yet lightweight fiber made from a proprietary woven pattern of flax. The Lumen’s sandwich sidewall construction includes Salomon’s Spaceframe full wood core and a titanium insert located under the binding area. The Lumen received its highest tester scores for float and lowest for stability. “It plays nice in powder and performs on the groomers, but lacks power on steep terrain,” says Johnson.
