2016/2017 Fischer Ranger 98 Ti ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its men’s All-Mountain Back Category and awarded it an Editors’ Choice honor.

Fischer hopes the Ranger series appeals to the adventurous all-mountain skier looking for a dynamic, lightweight ski. Testers responded with high totals for carving, which outperformed the ski in the flotation criteria. “Rip it up in the front or back,” says Loomans. “This is a fun, easy-to-ski model that blends playfulness and stability.” With a 98-mm waist, the Ranger 98 Ti sports several technology highlights, including a carbon fiber “Nose” and Air Tec Ti technology—which includes stability-enhancing titanium inserts in the binding mounting area as well as weight-reducing milled out portions of the beech/poplar wood core. Other details include a sandwich sidewall construction, a wide rockered tip and a flat rockered tail. “Big guys might get tossed around, but overall it’s a quick, light versatile ski,” says Witman.
