2016/2017 Faction Prodigy ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its men’s All-Mountain Back Category.

“It skied like a fat park ski,” says Gaudet of the updated Prodigy from Faction. “It pivots easily, but keep it in the soft snow.” Testers favored the 96-mm-waisted twin-tip Prodigy for its playfulness but were less impressed with carving and stability. Construction details include sandwich construction with a poplar/beech core and a micro cap added for increased sidewall durability. A dual radius sidecut produces two different turn radii—a tighter one in front of the binding and a larger one behind—designed to add responsiveness, edge hold and control. “Best suited for open areas where it can pivot or hold an edge, but it gets heavy and sluggish on steeps and in tight terrain,” says Hill.
