2016/2017 Salomon Lux ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its women’s All-Mountain Front Category.
According to testers, the new Lux is a Jill of all trades, scoring similar high marks across all testing criteria, slightly less favorable in the carving criteria. “Like a Vegas buffet—something for everyone,” says Riley. Salomon’s 92-mm-waisted women’s freeride ski is part of the QST line (including the 106-mm-waisted Stella and 99-mm-waisted Lumen), unique for its new design that includes a wide rockered tip and a hook-free tapered and rockered tail. Salomon’s Spaceframe construction contains a full wood core with a layer of strong yet lightweight “super” fiber. “My gripe—it doesn’t bite on steeper terrain, but otherwise it’s a fun ski that doesn’t take much work to handle a variety of terrain,” says Brown.
