2016/2017 K2 Alluvit 88 ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its women’s All-Mountain Front Category.
“Expect a freeride personality,” says Wieringa of the K2 Alluvit 88. “It pivots well and can handle bumps and soft snow. Just watch the tip chatter at high speed on hardpack.” In a long line of Luv skis (10 models total), the Alluvit 88 (88-mm waist) is designed for versatility. Accordingly, testers awarded it highest scores for stability and versatility, which outshine the ski’s playfulness. The K2 women’s Bioflex Konic Technology combines a low-density composite center core with denser fir and aspen wood around the ski’s edges, designed to reduce weight while adding stability. Sidewalls underfoot are blended with cap construction, located in the slow rise rockered tip and tapered rockered tails. “The tails are dominant,” notes Johnson. “Easy to smear and start turns, but takes work to stay on the front to carve.”
