2016/2017 Scott Black Majic ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its women’s Frontside Category.
“When on edge, these skis feel like a freight train,” says Muecke of the Scott Black Majic. “Trustworthy and damp, they perform best on groomed or firm snow.” Testers gave even scores across criteria, lowest for versatility. The construction for the Black Majic, categorized by Scott as an All Condition Ski, includes a sandwich sidewall layup with a wood core and two Titanal sheets—one on the top and one on the bottom. A 3Dimension sidecut combines a unique tip and tail radius with a small amount of sidecut underfoot, designed to enhance edge grip and stability. In turn, the waist of Black Majic ranges between 75 and 80 mm, according to the length. For example, at 157 cm, the sidecut is 118-75-108, and at 177 cm, the sidecut is 122-78-112. “This ski specializes in medium-radius turns,” says Balandina. “There’s not a lot of rebound, but it’s nice and stable from top to bottom.”
