2016/2017 Völkl RTM 84 UVO ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its men’s Frontside Category.

This season’s iteration of Völkl’s RTM 84 has UVO, a vibration-absorbing device designed for World Cup skis by Marker. “UVO is the real deal,” says Rice. “The ski digs trenches, holds really well and feels stable and quiet.” Indeed, testers gave the 84-mm-waisted ski high scores in stability, lower for playfulness. “Stiff yet smooth, this ski edges well and shines in longer GS turns,” says March. The RTM 84 has tip and tail rocker, a wood core and a full sheet of steel, designed to work in concert with Völkl’s 3D Ridge Technology—a lightweight construction with a raised “ridge” down the center of the ski, which levels out to create a thinner profile around the edges.
