2015/2016 Salomon Lumen ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its women’s All-Mountain Back Category.

The Lumen resides in a series of Salomon’s “all mountain backside” women’s skis, ranging in waist widths from 103 mm to 83 mm. At 96-mm underfoot, Salomon says the Lumen’s happy place is equally soft and mixed snow, thanks to a Honeycomb Tip, or air-filled pockets in a honeycomb design added for flotation. Accordingly, testers awarded the Lumen high scores for float, lower for carving. “It’s fun in powder like a flirty friend,” quips Rodman. Construction includes a full wood core and a semi-sandwich sidewall, which combines ABS sidewalls underfoot with Salomon’s capped Monocoque around the rockered tip and tail. “Easy to initiate, this ski is best at a slow and steady pace,” says Muecke.
