2015/2016 Head Monster 88 ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its men’s All-Mountain Front Category.

“There’s racer DNA in this ski,” says Bills. “It’s smooth, quiet, stable and ripe for a strong skier.” Testers place the Head Monster 88 among the top three highest for carving, though gave it lower scores for playfulness. “The ski feels heavy in trees and bumps, but powerful through the crud,” observes Witman. The 88-mm-waisted new model has a World Cup Sandwich Cap construction (wood core with titanium and an upper layer wrapped by a cap construction) plus the addition of Graphene—a material stronger than steel but extremely lightweight. ERA 3.0 (which stands for Evolutionary Rocker Architecture) adds tip rocker, a progressive radius for better edge contact and vibration-reducing Intellifibers in the ski’s tip. “Carving’s the thing because the tips sink in powder pillows,” notes Smid.
