FIRST IMPRESSIONS: These aren’t quite bibs, but the suspenders help these pants sit higher than most. That’s great news if you’re flying through powder, as they’ll offer plenty of protection. Mammut describes these as “loose fit,” though we expect that’s more of a European distinction, as most of the U.S.-inspired brands offer an even more relaxed fit. That being said, these are just about perfect in the fit department.

FAVORITE FEATURES: Even though there are only three of them, Mammut does not skimp on pocket space. You should be able to fit just about anything inside. Air vents are well designed, offering mesh protection and placement on the exterior of the legs. Another welcome addition is one-handed adjustments for the belt and suspenders, some of the easiest we’ve seen from any manufacturer. The GORE-TEX material should keep you dry in just about any condition you’ll encounter. An impressive combination of materials and fit place this among the best ski pants of this season.

MANUFACTURER DESCRIPTION: The Trift GTX 3L Pants, which are made from GORE-TEX, offer an impressively loose, comfortable fit for the freedom of movement necessary for freeriding. The sophisticated technical features, such as the map pocket on the leg, mesh-backed side vents and the tear proof Dyneema edge protection, make these pants the perfect choice for the backcountry.
