FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Those who think $450 seems steep for ski pants have never tried these on... and shouldn’t if they’re not willing to fork it out because the perfect fit will be hard to resist. Just like the corresponding jacket, Salomon’s Soulquest BC GTX 3L Pants are built to move in every direction while staying just as flattering as the moment you put them on. In our favorite example, added seat length keeps you covered while bending low or stepping high. The only bummer—that the skicut, crampon and boot protection along the cuff isn’t bigger, as previous testers had already managed to nick up and in some cases slash small slits through the pant material just outside the guard zone.

FAVORITE FEATURES: One of the many areas that set this pant apart, features just keep getting better and better in the waist department, including a high rise waistband, stretch panel, buttons that slide to lock (rather than snap) and an easy-to-adjust built-in belt. No Velcro here, ladies. But these pants get even more awesome. The leg vents run almost the entire length, and with dual directional zippers, are just as handy for cooling down as they are for adjusting a knee brace. Below that, the gaiters and cuffs offer up all kinds of custom configurations.

MANUFACTURER DESCRIPTION: Pro level technical backcountry pant designed with Salomon women pro skiers, the Soulquest BC GTX pant boasts GORE-TEX® Pro 3L protection, and Motion Fit designed for big lines and technical descents.
