2015 Head Super JOY ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its women’s Frontside Category.
In what must have been one eureka! moment, Head engineers borrowed the tennis racquet material, Graphene—stronger than steel or diamonds but with the thickness of one atom—and tried it in their women’s skis. The result? “These skis are so unbelievably light that I’m shocked they handle so well,” says Minneci. “Fast, slow or in between, they’re amazing.” Head played with ski profile and weight distribution for the Super JOY, a gesture that paid off as testers awarded it high scores for carving, also aided by tip rocker, a progressive radius and vibration-reducing Intelligence Stabilizers. “Not my first pick for bumps or super steep terrain, but it rips on the groomers like a zippy slalom ski,” says Van Riper.
