2015 Völkl RTM 84 ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its Frontside Category.
The fully-rockered RTM, or Ride the Mountain series, returns this season. For 2014/15, Völkl stiffens up the tip and softens the 84-mm waist of the RTM 84. Construction includes race-oriented reinforcement channels over the sidewalls and edges to prevent chatter and increase stability. The core contains poplar, beech wood and a layer of titanium. Testers awarded the RTM 84 high scores for carving and stability and average marks for playfulness. “It’s one of the most stable skis in the group,” says Bills. “This ski is best in big turns.” Witman adds that the skiing is at its “best on groomers and blasting through crud. Stand on this ski, and the turn will happen.”
