K2 Luv Boat 105 ski review, 2017/2018 women's Big Mountain Category, from our equipment experts at Realskiers.com powered by Masterfit.

K2’s core competence revolves around two arenas: Big Mountain skis and made-for-women skis, expertise that merges in the inspirationally named Luv Boat 105. Its unisex counterpart, the K2 Pinnacle 105, went on a weight-gain binge in the off-season, but the Luv Boat 105 needed no such embellishment. Its women-specific, Bioflex Konic core blends aspen, Paulownia, Nanolite (foam) and a band of Titanal around the ski's perimeter to create a super floaty platform with an addiction to off-piste terrain. Luv Boat 105's rockered forebody never met a mogul it couldn’t flow over, and its easy pivoting baseline can be swiveled around trees when there’s neither the space nor time to carve. Because it’s so light, K2 Luv Boat 105 feels faster edge to edge, mitigating the effect of its width on smooth, prepared slopes. For someone lucky enough to ski Mt. Bachelor regularly, a hill that seems perpetually shrouded in snow, the Luv Boat 105 could even be an everyday ski. Liz Elling wrote this mash note to the Luv Boat 105: “In the untracked, it was heaven.”
