Faction Dictator 3.0 ski review, 2017/2018 men's Big Mountain Category, from our equipment experts at Realskiers.com powered by Masterfit.

There are basically two ways to turn skis, skidding (or drifting) and carving (or edging). If you’re a dedicated off-trail skier, it’s useful to be able to do either in the blink of an eye. The Faction Dictator 3.0 facilitates shift-on-the-fly edge engagement with speedy reflexes when pressured suddenly and a more moderated response when shifting gently side to side. The ski's gradual sidecut isn’t overbearing in any one dimension, letting the skier dictate turn shape with edge angle. Lightweight enough to feel narrower than it measures, the Titanal inside gives it the grip required to motor through harbor chop (small, irregular bumps that in a perfect world wouldn’t even be there) with devil-may-care indifference. Faction's Dictator 3.0 proves that Power and Finesse can coexist under the same topsheet. While experts are always better positioned to appreciate a ski’s finer points, there’s no reason an intermediate wouldn’t benefit from the Dictator 3.0 as his/her off-trail coach. “For a wide ski, it feels almost invisible underfoot,” wrote Bob Gleason. “A great tool for terrible snow.”
