Dynastar Intense 12 ski review, 2017/2018 women's Technical Category, from our equipment experts at Realskiers.com powered by Masterfit.

How skis behave on snow is never the result of just one feature but the cumulative effect of all its design elements working together. That said, a dominant ski feature occasionally delivers a sensation so distinctive it becomes intrinsically associated with the model it graces. Such is the case with Powerdrive, the defining feature of the Dynastar Intense 12. Powerdrive is a three-part sidewall in the ski’s forebody with a unique approach to managing the inevitable vibrations that arise when traveling over a rough, frozen surface. The multi-layer sidewall doesn’t adhere to the laminates in the central core, allowing the latter to slide (or shear) in relation to one another. This movement has the dual advantage of converting vibration into motion and attendant friction, allowing the Dynastar Intense 12's forebody to flow over terrain rather than ricochet off as a more rigid structure would. Lightweight and easy to maneuver, the Intense 12 isn’t insistent on flawless technique to be enjoyed, making the ski an excellent choice for a Finesse skier. “A good carver,” assessed one tester, “with smooth rebound an intermediate could manage.”
