Völkl Aura ski review, 2017/2018 women's All-Mountain Back Category, from our equipment experts at Realskiers.com powered by Masterfit.

The Völkl Aura is an anachronism: you don’t see too many other women’s skis sporting two full sheets of Titanal around an all-wood core in this, or any other, women’s skis category. To the Aura’s legion of adoring fans, anything less would reek of condescension. It’s the Aura’s no-holds-barred construction that gives it the gumption to attack the fall line no matter what conditions lie ahead. During its last makeover, Völkl's Aura acquired a moderately tapered tip and a fully rockered baseline—with zero camber underfoot—all the better to travel off trail. Being double rockered and flat underfoot allows the Aura to swivel around trees, slither through mogul troughs and generally maneuver through irregular terrain with a minimum of fuss. The Aura’s gradual sidecut helps it to find a consistent level in broken snow, which reduces the shock caused by constantly crossing old tracks where skis with a skinnier waist would tend to sink. Kayla from Aspen Ski and Board lauded the Aura as an “Incredible all-mountain women’s ski! Surprisingly strong edge hold for a fully rockered ski and extremely stable, even at speed on hardpack.”
