Blizzard Black Pearl 98 ski review, 2017/2018 women's All-Mountain Back Category, from our equipment experts at powered by Masterfit.

The Black Pearl has been such a runaway success that Blizzard adopted the name for all its All-Mountain Freeride women’s skis. The new Black Pearl 98 is based on the Women’s Specific Design of the 2017 Samba, to which Blizzard applied the same changes it made to the 2018 Bonafide on the men's side. The principal tweaks are significant; together, its shapelier sidecut and reduced front rocker enable the Black Pearl 98 to raise its game on hard snow. While the Black Pearl 98 is better adapted to groomers, its bliss still lies off piste where it never met a crud field it couldn’t conquer. Women who can handle all terrain on a big mountain will gravitate to the Black Pearl 98 as their everyday ski; for ladies who only occasionally foray off-trail, it makes a marvelous powder board. Liz Elling of Gravity Sports extolled the Black Pearl 98 as “Less planky than the Samba. Quick, easy; made lovely turns. Love the new changes they made!”
