We visited Geilo mid february and had a lovely time! Friendly staff at the hotel, and excellent food (we booked halfboard). Two nights we also had dinner outside of the hotel, and off course the price is high compared to back home, but you get good value for money!!! We skied almost everyday, and used the skibus who stops right outside the hotel in the mornings. This is free of charge, if you would like to sleep in, just order a skitaxi (about 7 pound for two pers). Skibuss takes you back to the hotel/accommodation when the lifts closes. We had two children with us (7-14 years old) and one of the things we HAD to do during this visit, was to do horse sleig and dog sledging. Both were amazing. Friendly people who took really good care of us. What you need to be aware of, is that the weather can suddenly shift. When you get up in the morning, there might be blue sky and no wind. But during the day, it can suddenly change, so please remember to always bring warm clothes if you are skiing/cross country in the mountain. Otherwise, Geilo is a very good place to spend your holiday. The village is cozy and inviting, small shops, cafe, walking distanse to almost everything. The train station is centered almost in the middle of the city center, so very easy accsess to both Bergen and Oslo if you are heading for one of the big cities or going back by plane from one of the cities. We had a lovely time, and would love to come back, both winter and summer!
