If you live in denver and want a legitimate wilderness colorado experience that is close to the city, one isn't totally ruined from the gentrification that is happening to places like Keystone, Breck, and of Course Vail, this is the most affordable one you can get. The keystone-abasin pass is CHEAP. I like this place because the out of staters stick to keystone, and the Basin is left for people who are trying to shred. It's hard to get lost here. Top notch powder, waist deep on the east wall, mid season conditions, in late may -- can't beat it. But denver knows, they definitely know. It can get SLAMMED sometimes. Big Time actually. A Basin is good when all other mountains are open. but when other mountains close in april, and the basin has a 15 inch snowstorm, prepare to wait in line! And the east wall. ahhhhhh. It's where boys become men.
