this is a big league mountain. this is not your mama's mountain. this is for serious skiers only. you will hardly see any beginners and rare smattering of low intermediate skiers. the rest are advanced int. to double black diamond experts.(mostly the double black diamond experts!) everyone on the mountain is here to ski. no dilly-dallying, no wine with lunch, no mid afternoon cocktails on the mountain. ski, ski, ski! it was intimidating as i am adv intermediate, but i got much better by being around all those amazing skiers. the terrain is varied in only how steep it is....steep and steeper. the mountain is vertical, so you don't waste your time on cat tracks(which by the way, are designated intermediate to expert, a first for me in all my years skiing) grooming....not so much. it was sorely missed the one day we had horrid spring conditons. no new snow, temps into the 40s and sunny, melted snow that turned into icepack overnight after they groomed the snow while melted. so not fun to ski that day, but the other days were perfect. powder for two days post the mess in the middle of the week.
