Short runs, little-no safety patrol
If you live or are staying nearby, this is an excellent affordable place to learn to ski/board or to brush up or maintain your existing skills before heading to a big resort. Good range of beginner - difficult runs given the limited # runs. Nothing fancy--just basic, convenient skiing. This is no destination resort. Runs are very short, and too often they operate only 1 lift (of 2) even on busy days. Primarily local teens and young families on weekends, lone adults during week. Limited snow making capabilities, no night skiing. Best snow is late March/early April, best days are W-F when you'll typically have the place almost to yourself. Unfortunately little to no safety ski patrolling (volunteer onlly) allows reckless behavior, so ski/board defensively. Only a 20-min. drive from Casper, no traffic jams, free & close parking, ski/board school, rentals, food concessions.
