Great open runs, fantastic views, not lift lines
Could be a challenge to get to in bad weather
My two boys and I are average black recreational skiers. We tried Grand Targhee for the first time January 1 and will go back as much as we can. This is not a resort for beginners or average intermediates and the skill level of the other skiers reflected that. On our trip we have skied in Colorado (A-Basin), Utah (Alta, Brighton, Snowbird) and Targhee has the best snow in a bad snow season. My 10 year old caused a collision where no one was seriously hurt and the ski patrol handled him perfectly.
Locals have indicated that Targhee can get foggy, but that has not occurred on our two days of skiing there. Overall this is resort I will go way out my way to go to again.
