Lots of different terrain, nice tree glades, high speed quad
Can be pricey on weekends though good deals during the week
Overall for the midwest its excellent.
Been skiing for over 15 years and have skied just about every hill(worth skiing) in Wisconsin, UP, and Lutsen in MN. Made more then my share of trips out west. Granite Peak is one of the best overall ski hills in the midwest. Granite Peak has some solid runs to the left and right of what use to be the old Rib mountain. Couple nice short steep chutes though can be icey on them. Tree runs are very blue and great for what they are. Though there is some more challenging unmarked tree runs. Terrain park has got better every year.
Facilities are the best in Wisconsin and UP. Everything updated or new and very spacious. The new bar area and patio for 2008/09 season looks great. Food is also very good which not many ski hills in the midwest can say that. High Speed lift is a such a blessing. Suppose to be putting in a second one to the far right of the hill if your facing it in the next year or two.
I see a few reviews stating about icey conditions. Well all I can say is either you haven't been there in a few years(use to be a big problem when it was Rib Mtn. running on a bare bones budget) and haven't skied much in the midwest.
Price can get high on weekends. But your only talking about $10 or so more then any other hill in most cases. So for $10 your usually getting more runs, high speed lift, brand new facilities, and overall just a better a skiing experience compared to many hills. Weekdays they have some excellent deals.
