More than 150 people will compete in the 8th annual Røldal Freeride Challenge this weekend. Ciompetitors already met on Wednesday, April 30, to receive start bibs, with pre-qualification and qualification events on Thursday and Friday May 1st t and 2nd. The race final is on Saturday, May 3rd.

    The southern hemisphere's ski season is continuing to ‘take off' as more snow reaches Australia and some snow arrives in South America and New Zealand. In Europe more glacier ski areas are opening in Italy and Switzerland, but several report another 20-30cm weekly drop in snow depth, while across the Atlantic, after peaking with over a dozen ski areas open for national holidays in Canada and the US last weekend, only three are open this weekend.
