As 20+ year experienced southern skiers who have skied up north and out west, we love this resort! It’s easy, fun, well laid out, and always extremely accommodating. Every southern skier understands that snow making is the only reason we even have ski resorts in the south. So we TOTALLY GET all the management reasons & rationale to run those pumps when conditions are ripe. But on 20-deg temp days when the park is full to capacity, give us paying customers a break. Visibility last Saturday was cut to maybe 20% due to the massive cloud over the park—created by snow blowers. The ice crystals from snow blowers fowled our goggles compounding the problem. When you can’t see clearly, you lose spatial depth perception, which leads to falls and collisions. Management needs to weigh the pros & cons of snow making during peak times and in balance, give paying customers some relief. How about making snow all night to include 9am when slopes open until noon. Then shut pumps off and give us from noon till 4 to safely & fully enjoy what we paid a lot of money, time, travel, and effort to do once or twice each year! Snow making is absolutely essential, but the decision to make snow and fowl the park has to be balanced with skier safety and quality of experience!
Easy runs, even the black runs. Plenty of lifts, never had to wait more than 10-min!
Crowded with newbies on peak days.

Great resort for all skill levels! There are tons of runs that range from beginner difficulty to advanced difficulty. The terrain park wasn’t huge, but it had ramps and rails which is better than some resorts. I had a great time and can’t wait to come back!
Perfect for all skill levels

My family and I vacation here often. This is the first year they closed early, at 4pm on two of our full days of planned skiing. With four teenagers in our group that like to sleep in the morning, that did not go over well at all. I really like the family atmosphere at Winter Place and the cabin we stayed in. But with the new ownership closing the resort early during the week, we may choose some where different next year. So if you are planning to ski day and night, plan to go Thursday through Monday. Overall, Winter Place Ski Resort is very nice. Just pray for Mother Nature to cooperate and send snow. I hope this review helps families plan their vacation.
Family friendly.
Not much snow.

We went recently, snow was great, Mother Nature has been working with us. People were nice. They enforced the wearing of masks and we felt very safe. Awesome!
Good snow this year, nice people

I like Winterplace very much but felt very unsafe today. I've not seen so many people unmasked since before Covid. Nothing was being enforced. Other resorts have staff at the lift lines to help enforce safety protocol. I'd say at least half of the folks in line for the lift either had no masks or had pulled them down completely. I mentioned this to the lift attendants several times. They were not concerned. We were packed together. I saw quite a few people walking around inside unmasked as well. Their website says that masks are required but this is in no way being enforced at Winterplace.
Good skiing for the area
Not enforcing mask wearing

This place is reluctant to open their advanced runs because they are all in an upper bowl area. If you are an advanced skier or snowboarder you are better off to commit to the extra drive / two lanes roads to get to Snowshoe
Convenient location
This place definitely caters to the novice skier

We came here for a family holiday. The staff has been very unfriendly and rude! First and last time to come here.

We came Christmas holiday to have a special week. We had a great time overall, but they messed up our ski lift tickets , which resulted in over paying for the kids and ski school. Staff was unfriendly when we tried to understand the charges posted to our credit card! Not coming back!
Friendly
Miss management of lift tickets

Took my husband and kids for Christmas week for their first time in the slopes. The skiwee school was terrific as were the other lessons. All the staff from the instructors to the lift operators and rental shop staff were super nice. There was fresh made snow. It wasn’t too crowded though they said it would be three times more crowded after Christmas. We had a good time.
Friendly staff, good snowmaking
No frills, dreary lodge
