Usually one of the first to open in east (along with Cat. in NC), you can't beat the amount of snow and powder conditions this far south. Yes, if you go on weekends it is crowded as most resorts are, and I'm NOT a big fan of the shuttle service and blocked off parking. But once on the slopes it all seems to fade away. I've been on the non-opened slopes earning turns in October two of the past three years in 10-20 inches of snow. Try that elsewhere on east coast except maybe Jay Peak or Killington up in Vermont!
