Early season indeed. Lots of creek holes, rocks and obstacles to watch for. Not too bad though and found the little roller and burms fun. Icy in places and powder along the sides in places. Watch out for those chair lifts though--big drops off that can use filling in. Just glad that Stevens is finally open!
Opening day was today. The snow wasn't all that bad but there was quite a few of bare spots. The snow was tough to ski if you were a beginner because of the difficulty in trying to groom. All in all it was a decent day and stayed cold which is good!
Great blue bird day at Alpine. Not crowded, Alpine Bowl Chair was open, Summit closed until mid day. Variable conditions until 10:30 and then gorgeous. Still making snow, Lakeview was open and still some soft snow.
Agree with previous post. Cold and crowded at the top waiting in the dark for gondola with lots of non skiers who were inadequately dressed with small kids. Staff didn't seem prepared or want to do anything. Waiting for ca side to open before I'll go back.
Spent a day on Saturday the 20th. Not bad. Foggy and windy, but lots of heavy powder. Some runs, such as just east of chair 3 backside, were blown icy. Wish they had opened more lifts. Did get in two runs where I was the first down.
Looking forward to a great season!
