Stevens Pass is a very good all-around mountain, and a great place to take the family so that everyone comes home happy. There is plenty of beginner and intermediate terrain, and some advanced terrain to be had as well, particularly if you're up for some hiking. The backside is very nice for intermediate and up. There are some very steep spots to be had if you know where to look too.
I spent several years riding here exclusively as I transitioned from beginner to intermediate to advanced at snowboarding, and so it has a special place in my heart. So I can assure you it has all kinds of terrain.
That said, it has lots of issues. It gets very crowded on weekends, and even fridays. The lift system is such that this reults in very long lift lines. It is about 2 hrs from seattle, which isnt too bad, but the 2-lane highway 2 to get to it can get clogged or completely stopped by bad drivers or accidents. And it is always slow to leave in the evening trying to get through the small towns along it. The closest lodging is ~ 30 min away, and there is no nightlife.
The terrain park is decent, with one exception. They often screw up the jumps so they have too long a deck and you have to go ridiculously fast just to make it to the landing. Not good for anything but experts. In fact, on one of the jumps is the only place I ever significantly hurt myself boarding or skiing (cracked a rib).
Bottom line - Stevens Pass is a good all-around mountain, with plenty of terrain to please the whole family. Just try to come on a weekday!
