We have been going to Baker since the 70's, before snowboards, before the lower lifts, before a lot that has been inproved there over the last 30 years. Best part of Baker is the snow. Snow from October to July some years, sometimes it's been August before you drive to Austin Pass. If you are looking for nightlife, a 4 or more lane freeway and a condo, go somewhere else. The road up is totally acceptable for sane drives with the proper vehicles.......Baker is for people that want to ski, snowboard, and love deep snow and steep steep runs. If you have kids that want to tube rather than ski there are several really good places at Heather meadows. Climb to the roof of your motor home, kick some steps in the snowbank and clamber up and over. When our children were young, we did that a lot.
