Mt. Baker is quite probably the best Resort in Washington. Certainly my favorite. It has tons of terrain, most of which is excellent and highly varied. There are bowls, steeps, chutes, trees, moguls, jumps... Tons of backcountry options, and plenty of in-bounds expert terrain as well. Everything you could want, except maybe a decent terrain park, but with everything else, who cares!

The conditions are generally fantastic and they get tons of snow. It rarely gets too icy.

The long drive (>3 hrs from Seattle) is rather a pain, but it sure keeps the crowds down! Plus it is cheap! As of Jan 2009 it is only $43 for an adult weekend, and just $36 for a midweek adult ticket! Where else can you ski/board for that these days?!?!

It is not great for families, however it is not terrible as there are options for easier terrain. The lodge at the base can get rather rowdy.

There is no nightlife to speak of. No lodging even very close. Best bet for both is Bellingham, ~1 hr drive away.

Bottom line, Mt. Baker rules!
