After reading some of the reports below, my advice to newbies on the hill would be 'go with someone who knows the mountain'. Agreeably, Crystal does not tailor to the new comer. It's a hard hill to figure out on your own. Once you know it, you stay ahead of the crowd and go where things trigger perfect for the conditions and crowd. Hit it last Sunday and found Northback off the last gate (just above left angle) to be the winner. Powder bowl had the smooth smoke, but didn't want to loop the slow chair 6. Green Valley in the afternoon was light on crowds, so looping under the chair kept the legs warm. The trick at Crystal is to start marching up (Southback or Northback) when the crowd frustrate you. The exercise and views far compensate for chair access groomers. Try to hook-up with the guided services offered by the resort if you'd like to get more familiar wiith the hill.
