It snows there, it's a mountain
Poorly operated in all aspects
In an area of the Northwest that features many classic ski mountains, 49 is at the bottom of pile by far. Where do I begin...the lodge is completely inadequate for the small amount of people and is adorned with tacky mining era décor complete with loads of fat, old ski patrollers walking around with their chests puffed out along with most of Steven's counties finest unemployed people. The mountain itself is not bad and receives a fair amount of snow but the managerial decisions over it have always- and continue- to boggle everyone's mind. A new buzillion dollar, top to bottom lift is built to a peak that was already 80-90% accessible with old lifts- and now the ticket prices reflect it- Thank you! You have to have great skiers in upper management to really get what core skiers and riders want and need in a resort. I don't think that exists here. They seem to be 10-15 years behind the curve in everything. Nothing can be trusted in the way of any public relations, print, or media information- nothing!. Gross embellishments of snow quality, totals, "another record-breaking weekend for attendance at 49" - come on, please- we're not idiots. I love skiing all the area mountains- around 30 trips a season. 49 is the only resort I stopped going to.
