Wintergreen is a great resort! The snow conditions vary on the time when you come and visit. Although Wintergreen does receive a fair amount of natural snow, the thing that keeps the resort open and conditions good is the 100% snowmaking system. Wintergreen made an amazing recovery from the beginning of the year where they had pretty much no snow. The one thing that they could improve on is building a halfpipe and level out the cut across trails, logger's alley and the trail that leads from eagles' swoop back to dobie. It is very annoying for a snowboarder to take off one of their binding and push to the top of the trail! I visited this year during president's day weekend. I snowboarded saturday, sunday, and monday morning. The first day, the anow contained a lot of ice patches and powder patches. It was better than i had expected though because the resort had just been hit with an ice storm. The next day, the snow contained only a few icy patches, and more powder patches. The lines were pretty long, but if you had a season pass, it was great to skip all the lines. If you are going to go to Wintergreen a few times this year, especially during a holiday period, it is definitely worth the money to buy a season pass. Finally, on monday morning, the conditions were excellent! When i arrived, they had just turned off the snow blowers, and there was tons of fresh powder for me to enjoy. Especially because i was among the first on the slopes. Also, their two high-speed lifts were excellent. Wintergreen is definitely a great place to go to!
